Production Process
Our journey begins with responsible cultivation practices. We prioritize the use of organic manure for planting, ensuring the health of our soil and the sustainable growth of our coffee plants. Timely pest and disease control measures are implemented through the careful application of approved chemicals, maintaining the well-being of our crops.
The meticulous process of pruning and weeding follows, fostering optimal conditions for our coffee cherries to flourish.
Harvest
At Ziwa Farm, our committed team meticulously handpicks the ripest berries, ensuring an unparalleled harvest of exceptional quality. The main crop harvest takes place from October to December, coinciding with the short rains, yielding plump, juicy red cherries at their peak ripeness. We take pride in our thorough sorting process, carefully classifying cherries based on size and density of ripeness, a meticulous approach that underscores our dedication to delivering the finest coffee beans from our bountiful harvest.
Processing
Ziwa Farm offers a range of processing methods, including fully washed and natural processes. The choice between these methods is made with careful consideration of the unique market needs. This diversity in processing allows us to present a spectrum of flavors that captivate coffee enthusiasts with every sip.
Our commitment to quality extends to the drying phase. Ziwa Farm boasts of its own drying beds, where coffee beans are allowed to dry slowly and surely under the embrace of the sun in the highlands of Mt. Kenya and Aberdare Ranges. This meticulous drying process enhances the flavor profile of our coffee, resulting in a rich and distinctive taste.
Full Traceability
At Ziwa Farm, transparency is paramount. Our commitment to full traceability means that every cup of coffee can be traced back to its origin. From the moment a seed is planted to the final packaging, we provide a complete journey map for our customers, fostering a connection between the farm and their coffee cup.
